Spectra
The power in one's soul to use magic, it awakens in someone either at birth or on rare occasion, a significant event. With humans, it is generally hard to acquire because the chances breaching dormancy during birth is 1 / 1,000,000. Spectra isn't defined and cannot be calculated with absolute certainty as it is an extremely unstable and still mysterious force.
Magic is limited by a entities Spectra count and energy of the user. Low spectra allows less usage of magic, and lack of understanding of Spectra of magical energies could completely inhibit their connection to magic.
Otherwise new spells can be obtained a few ways.
- through practice (choosing a spell to prepare at the end of a session several times depending on difficulty (ex level 3 = 3 sessions of training so forth) will grant you an unlock of that spell next session, and it will be yours to keep or teach thereafter.
- vendors - many vendors or friends may have spell tomes for sale.
- looting - dead wizards, druids, fey, and other magic users may drop spell books or tomes on death.
